Scent of the City

We Chicagoan’s are a special breed. Imagine yourself on the shore of Lake Michigan with the fresh breeze in your face whilst gazing at our amazing skyline and take a deep breath. Suddenly, transport yourself to Grant Park, breathe again. I have lived in New York. I have lived in L.A. There is nothing like Chicago. I love this town, and True Blooms Chicago captures the essence of our city.

“The fragrance’s first impression will emerge from sparkling watery fruit accords reminiscent of a day along the shores of Lake Michigan while the dry down of blonde woods and sensual skin musk speak to the city’s vibrant nightlife and blues heritage,” according to the manufacturer. Chicago is creating it’s fragrance not by large commercial production, but by local gardens lovingly tended to by our own peeps. One can find the perfume gardens on North Michigan avenue, a half-acre garden in Grant Park consisting of roses, lavender and violets – the Illinois state flower. Gardens were planted throughout the city, including Chicago Botanic Garden’s Windy City Harvest, Green Youth Farm and Cook County Boot Camp, Water Tower Place and neighborhood gardens. Ladies, it does not get more local chic than this.

This scent of the city will be available at Water Tower Place, Chicago Botanical Gardens, the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium, and several boutique hotels. This is a limited edition ladies, so no lounging allowed (although we do look so feline-esque on a chaise with beverage in hand) we must pounce on this opportunity immediately. Important dates to remember: August 20-September 5th when the gardens are harvested. Sept 10th internet pre sales begin. Oct 10th is the perfume’s official launch with retail and online sales.

As our beautiful fall begins, capture a bit of this past summer and sport the scent of our city. Life couldn’t be better, we do live in Chicago after all…

Ciao for now,

Vanessa Williams. She sings, she dances, she acts. She is the Diva Extraordinaire. In fact, when I was doing my medical internship in NYC I saw her on Broadway—front row center, looking radiant. And who could forget her feline-like performance as Renee Perry in Desperate Housewives? She is the ultimate “it girl”. Williams is currently [...]
